AYEDAŞ enhanced its equipment, active vehicle and personnel resources that may be required in the electricity distribution grid to provide uninterrupted energy to the Anatolian Side of Istanbul against the meteorological events that can be encountered throughout the winter. A total of approximately 1000 personnel and 290 vehicles, including the teams that will support the operation personnel, if required, were put on alert in line with the disaster plan.
AYEDAŞ put all its efforts to complete its preparations in order to prevent the adverse impacts of the energy transmission lines due to the winter conditions expected to be effective in the Anatolian Side of Istanbul and to repair any power failures that may occur due to disasters as soon as possible. The Company stored the required equipment, materials and vehicles to provide uninterrupted energy.
As part of the preparations, AYEDAŞ has assigned approximately 1000 personnel including teams to support the personnel on the field, if required, to rapidly transfer to the designated points in the event of any crisis. The clothing and equipment requirements of the personnel for the challenging winter conditions were completed.
42 million TL investment in fighting snow
While the AYEDAŞ teams are on the field 24/7, the Company carried out rehabilitation and renovation works at 2224 substations in the Anatolian Side of Istanbul. AYEDAŞ teams got prepared for a possible disaster and completed their inventories as well as checking and keeping their vehicles, materials and equipment in the inventory in working condition. In addition to the investments made throughout the year, AYEDAŞ has its field teams and inventories ready for the heavy snowfall expected in the upcoming days and has also put into operation an investment of 42 million TL for these operations.
Technology Support to Field Coordination
On the other hand, the systems that enable the remote detection and response to power failures, including the critical points of the supply continuity remote monitoring system and 800 SCADA locations, were checked. Existing 904 push-to-talk devices and 520 vehicle radios that back up the system, which are extremely significant when responding to power failures as soon as possible, were tested.
